Medical imaging refers to the techniques and processes used to create images of the human body (or parts thereof) for clinical purposes (medical procedures seeking to reveal, diagnose or examine disease) or medical science (including the study of normal anatomy and physiology).

As a discipline and in its widest sense, it is part of biological imaging and incorporates radiology (in the wider sense), radiological sciences, endoscopy, (medical) thermography, medical photography and microscopy (e.g. for human pathological investigations).

Measurement and recording techniques which are not primarily designed to produce images, such as electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), Electrocardiography (EKG) and others, but which produce data susceptible to be represented as maps (i.e. containing positional information), can be seen as forms of medical imaging.

Cystic Fibrosis and medical imaging..?
Q. Anyone know.. What type of medical imaging would work best and why. What procedures are followed when examining a person using this particular type of medical imaging? How much does it cost to create this particular kind of medical imaging? Where would the equipment associated with this type of medical imaging be stored?

medical imaging/ultrasound career?
Q. hey, I have just finished my hsc (in australia) and am considering doing a bachelor of diagnostic radiography at charles sturt university. I have tried looking everywhere to find the wages radiographers, sonographers, etc would earn. I was wondering if you could let me know what range of wages are payed in different parts of the medical imaging field? I have heard like about $25 per hour is pretty standard for radiographers but if u get into sonography/ultrasound it is like $40 an hour? Is pay less in regional areas then in capital cities (i'm not planning on living in sydney, etc). Which fields of medical imaging do u think would be the most rewarding, and which do u think pay the best, and would be the best to get into? Do salaries… [cont.]
